The Yukon 1000 is the longest canoe and kayak race in the world. Participants paddle along the Yukon River for 1600 km (1000 mi) from Whitehorse to the Alaska Pipeline / Dalton Highway, and can expect to paddle 18 hours a day for 7 to 12 days straight. The race leaves on July 21 from Whitehorse.

Athletics Yukon is hosting the annual Grey Mountain Winter Solstice Run/Walk on Saturday to celebrate the shortest day of the year. Length approximately 12km. The run starts at ten o’clock in the morning. It follows the Grey Mountain Road past the rifle range and before the Northwestel Road. Participants meet at the upper parking lot where you will see race organizers. There is no fee but people are asked to donate non-perishable food items for the Whitehorse Food Bank.
