Athletics Yukon is hosting the annual Grey Mountain Winter Solstice Run/Walk on Saturday to celebrate the shortest day of the year. Length approximately 12km. The run starts at ten o’clock in the morning. It follows the Grey Mountain Road past the rifle range and before the Northwestel Road. Participants meet at the upper parking lot where you will see race organizers. There is no fee but people are asked to donate non-perishable food items for the Whitehorse Food Bank.

Fran Delisle Cancer Awareness Walk

This beautiful walk follows the Dyea road along the Taiya Inlet, through a spruce forest to downtown Skagway. Aids and treats are provided by volunteer staffed stations along the way.  There is also a half walk, starting in Long Bay. $20 entry fee includes shirt and lunch. All money raised by the walk provides cancer screenings and aid to Skagway residents diagnosed with cancer. Sponsored by the Eagles Auxillary #25 and the Emblem Club.

Skagway Marathon

Known far and wide as one of the hardest and most rewarding marathons in North America,  the Skagway Marathon leaves Skagway and runs up the Dyea road to West Creek and back, a distance of 26 miles. Yukon 1000 Canoe and Kayak Race

The Yukon 1000 is the longest canoe and kayak race in the world. Participants paddle along the Yukon River for 1600 km (1000 mi) from Whitehorse to the Alaska Pipeline / Dalton Highway, and can expect to paddle 18 hours a day for 7 to 12 days straight. The race leaves on July 18 from Whitehorse.
