Klondike International Road Relay

Relay teams of up to 10 runners race along the old Gold Rush route through coast mountains from Skagway to Whitehorse overnight. The race begins in Skagway, Alaska and finishes along the Yukon River in Whitehorse. Festivities to follow the race.

Winter Solstice Run

Athletics Yukon is hosting the annual Grey Mountain Winter Solstice Run/Walk on Saturday to celebrate the shortest day of the year. Length approximately 12km. The run starts at ten o’clock in the morning. It follows the Grey Mountain Road past the rifle range and before the Northwestel Road. Participants meet at the upper parking lot where you will see race organizers. There is no fee but people are asked to donate non-perishable food items for the Whitehorse Food Bank.

Burning Away the Winter Blues

Celebrate the Spring Equinox with this annual parade and bonfire along the Yukon River.  Park your car at the Robert Service Campsite and catch a shuttle to the S.S. Klondike to watch the parade. The parade finishes at Robert Service Campground, where a giant winter effigy will be burned in a big bonfire. Bring a piece of paper with your winter blues written on it to burn along with the winter effigy!

Yukon River Quest Canoe and Kayak Race

June 24, 2015 - June 28, 2015

The Yukon River Quest is one of the most spectacular paddling races in the world. Participants take off from Whitehorse on June 24 and paddle the 740 km (460mi) to reach Dawson City in marathon time, usually within 48 hours. Cheer on the teams as they leave Whitehorse or arrive in Dawson.

Yukon 1000 Canoe and Kayak Race

The Yukon 1000 is the longest canoe and kayak race in the world. Participants paddle along the Yukon River for 1600 km (1000 mi) from Whitehorse to the Alaska Pipeline / Dalton Highway, and can expect to paddle 18 hours a day for 7 to 12 days straight. The race leaves on July 18 from Whitehorse.
