Yukon Arctic Ultra

The Yukon Arctic Ultra is one of the world’s coldest and toughest races. Competitors mountain bike, cross-country ski, or run the Yukon Quest Trail from Whitehorse to either Braeburn (100-mile racers) or Pelly Farm (300-mile racers) as individuals or in teams.

Yukon Quest – Dawson City Layover

Every dog musher participating in the Yukon Quest is required to stop in Dawson City for 36 hours on their 1600 km journey from Fairbanks, Alaska to Whitehorse, Yukon. Their arrival dates in Dawson are subject to weather conditions and each musher’s progress along the Quest trail.

Back in the days, the Yukon Sourdough Rendez-vous dog races was quite the event allowing the gathering of old friends from the communities that had not met for a year. In 1965, the races were held for three days in the Kluane lake area. The next edition of the Babe Southwick Memorial race will be held on February 10th and 11th at the Ibex Valley tracks. The Babe Southwick Memorial race is a Yukon Sourdough Rendezvous affiliated event.
