Destruction Bay

Destruction Bay is a small community on the Alaska Highway next to Kluane Lake. It lies 19 km southeast of Burwash Landing and is home to approximately 43 people. Originally built as a construction camp for the Alaska Highway, Destruction Bay was named for a severe windstorm that occurred in the 1940s.

A boat ramp in Destruction Bay provides access to Kluane Lake, an ideal place for fishing, camping, or paddling. The Tachäl Dhäl (Sheep Mountain) Interpretive Centre, just 30 minutes south of Destruction Bay is a great place to get hiking information and watch for Dall Sheep on the nearby hills.
