YUKON FLOWER
Fireweed (Epilobium angustifolium) was
chosen as Yukon’s floral emblem in 1957.
It is a hardy plant and grows along Yukon
roadsides, river bars and clearings from mid-
July to September.
YUKON GEMSTONE
Lazulite – an azure-blue semi-precious
gemstone – was proclaimed as Yukon’s
official gemstone in February 1976. It is
found in the layered sedimentary rock of the
Blow River area in Ivvavik National Park.
YUKON BIRD
The raven was adopted as Yukon’s official
bird in 1985. The raven is seen everywhere
in Yukon.

Checkout the Five Finger Rapids
recreation site at km 380 while travelling
the North Klondike Highway. From the
viewing platform you can see the four
islands that splits the river into five
channels. Follow the stairs down and
walk the marked trail that takes you right
down to the river.
