Kathleen Lake
Located just 24 kms from Haines
Junction on the Haines Road, this
pristine mountain lake is an amazing
spot to camp for a few days or simply
spend the afternoon sitting by the
lake gazing up at King’s Throne – an
epic hike up into an alpine cirque
formed by glacial erosion above
Kathleen Lake. There is a day use
area, a 39-site campground, a boat
launch and the Kokanee Trail, which
is a 0.5 km wheel chair accessible
boardwalk that meanders along
the shores of the lake. If you want
endless scenic lake and mountain
views, hiking, paddling or fishing,
Kathleen Lake is the place for you.
Kluane Museum
Visitors can enjoy world-class wildlife
exhibits with dioramas depicting
natural habitat. Also displayed are
Native clothing, tools and weapons of
the Southern Tutchone people as well
as minerals and gemstones that are
found in the Yukon. A large parking
lot with two entrances makes it easy
for big rigs to pull through. Watch for
the World’s Largest Gold pan located
next to the museum.
