year-round and connects Watson Lake to
Carmacks..
FARO’S FABULOUS FANNIN SHEEP
About 100 Fannin Sheep live in the Faro area.
Their winter range is near the Faro townsite,
along the south-facing slopes of Mount Mye,
while their summer range is further back in the
mountains.
The best time to view the sheep is mid-
September to mid-June, when they are on
their winter range. Join us in celebrating
the annual migration of Sandhill Cranes and
to view the rare Fannin Sheep during the
beginning of May at Faro’s “Annual Crane &
Sheep Viewing Festival”.

DENA CHO TRAIL
Dena Cho Trail follows one of the hunting
routes used for centuries by the Kaska people.
In 1840 Lapie and Kitza, two indigenous
hunters, took this trail while guiding the first
European Explorer, Robert Campbell, through
the Yukon. The Trail is open year-round
and has 4 cabins open all winter. For more
information or current trail conditions, contact
the Town Office.
Whether you are looking for an adventure on
the Dena Cho, or a weekend family getaway,
Faro’s warm and welcoming community is the
perfect escape.
